Opening Melvec on macOS
Some users may encounter a macOS security warning when trying to open Melvec after downloading the .dmg file:
“Melvec” cannot be opened because Apple could not verify it is free of malware.
This is macOS Gatekeeper protecting your system. Melvec is signed with Apple’s Developer ID and notarized, but downloaded apps often trigger this extra verification step.
Step-by-Step Solution
1. Install Melvec from the DMG
- Double-click the downloaded
.dmgfile to mount it. - Drag the Melvec app into your Applications folder (recommended) or onto your Desktop.
2. Open the App (Quick Method)
- Right-click (or Control-click) the Melvec app in your Applications folder.
- Select Open from the context menu.
- In the dialog that appears, click Open.
3. Open via System Settings (Alternative)
- Attempt to open Melvec normally (double-click) and click Done on the warning.
- Go to → System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Scroll down to the Security section at the bottom.
- Find the message about Melvec and click Open Anyway.
- When prompted again, click Open.
After this one-time approval, you can launch Melvec normally by double-clicking it.

Right now, melvec app does not support automatic updation. We may support it in subsequent versions.
Melvec app is crashing or not working.
The possible reasons are: - Your computer's operating system is not supported.
- Your computer's hardware is not supported.
- Your computer's hardware is not powerful enough.
- The library is not compatible with your computer's hardware.
Please check the system requirements section. If you have huge library( probably more than 100000 videos or you have collections with more than 1000 videos), melvec app may not getting enough system resources. Free up memory by killing other apps.
I'm getting a blank screen when I try to open the melvec app.
Check for error logs in your library root folder. You can get it in [Library root]/.v/logs. There might be some error in accessing some of the directories.
I can't find the Melvec app in the App Store or Google Play Store.
